10 UN Plaza
The 42-story luxury residential tower occupies a prestigious location within the United Nations Plaza, offering views of the celebrated Modernist UN Headquarters building, the East River and the New York City skyline. MPFP developed the design of the new entrance and court using wood and granite materials, complimentary to the architect’s design palette, in addition to lush plantings that surround the tower. Sitting atop the garage entrance is an extensive trellis system bringing lush plantings, the varied color of plantings and their textures into an otherwise ordinary parking garage.
This project was conceived in the spirit of Hearst Tower, one of New York’s first ‘green’ office towers – more than half of the exterior is solid, the rest made up of highly insulated glazing. The building’s construction incorporates recycled materials and its environmental impact will be further reduced using recycled water for irrigation for all landscaped areas.
