Bed-Stuy Gateway

The Bed-Stuy Gateway is a one–mile long streetscape improvement project along the Fulton street retail corridor between Franklin Avenue and Troy Avenue.

The concept for this streetscape improvement project was to improve the retail shopping experience both for the visitors, residents and shop owners with a draw in tourism as a direct effect of the beautification of this Fulton Street retail corridor. The streetscape consists of the new tinted concrete sidewalk pavers, a new amenity band of unit pavers for visual interest, street trees, benches, trash receptacles, bus shelters, and bike and muni meters to support a network of improved pedestrian circulation.

MPFP carefully designed around a myriad of below grade utilities, subway and metal ventilation grates, parking meters, car and bus traffic flow issues and grading issues which impeded tree plantings that were desperately needed for the revitalization of this area.
