Cabrini at Gramercy Square

New apartments, converted from the former Cabrini Medical Center, compose this new Gramercy Square development. MPFP collaborated with Woods Bagot architects to conceptualize, design and implement an open air courtyard at ground level, various rooftop terraces, and the penthouse terrace.

At ground level, MPFP integrated undulating gardens and shady tree canopies into the building’s community, outdoor courtyard. This space also hosts an outdoor kitchen, a greenhouse, swimming pool and multitude of seating opportunities designed for passive reflection or active socializing. Welcoming visitors and residents alike, MPFP selected river birch and complementary perennials to encase the building’s driveway and create a warm, identifiable entrance experience.

Moving upwards in the building, outdoor kitchens adorn rooftop terraces, residing next to lush plantings and trellises for shade and privacy. A mix of ipe decking, stone, and seasonal planting materials are carried throughout each terrace, bringing the building’s cohesive aesthetics into individual apartments and their private outdoor spaces.
