Garvies Point
Glen Cove, NY
The glen Isle Master Plan is a comprehensive transformation of a 52-acre brownfield into a vibrant waterfront community. Within its boundaries, this master plan includes residences, offices, restaurants and museums, and is unified by a necklace of public parks, plazas, bicycle, and pedestrian paths, all connecting to the Garvies Point Preserve and downtown Glen Cove.
The public-private project has created the first comprehensive pedestrian park system stretching from Glen Clove to its waterfront. The open spaces vary from semi-active open fields to a programmable south facing waterfront amphitheater space, passive contemplative gardens, native restored wetland shorelines, marinas, interpretive piers providing close contact with the water, a boat launch and restored dune beach. MPFP’s master plan has been approved and the EIS has been submitted.
