St. Francis Hospital
MPFP assisted LSM Architects in providing the master planning services for the redesign of the 120-acre hospital campus to strategically plan future campus additions, including the $100-million construction program. To expand the hospital’s capabilities on its restricted 10-acre site, the expansion included subsurface operating rooms, a multi-story underground garage with upper level gardens, a vehicular entry plaza, a surgery and nursing tower and 350-room building addition.
The landscape fused the surface areas with the on-structure open space areas giving the campus more opportunities for usable open space. A variety of gardens were designed for patients and visitors as well as outdoor congregating areas for events. Several of the gardens were sponsored by donors enabling the hospital to complete the master plan by 2009. The final plan included short and long range construction plans for the site.
